Here is a collection of resources for our ever expanding and diversifying field of musical theater. We will continuously add to and update this list.
- Bipoc Arts
Bipoc Arts - We celebrate Black, Indigenous, and POC individuals in opera by providing a community for BIPOC opera professionals and serving as a resource for companies, collaborators, and recruiters to engage with a wide range of BIPOC talent in the field.

Black Theater Girl Magic - to create a racially just and more equitable entertainment industry for black and brown women.
- Black Theatre Coalition
Black Theatre Coalition - To remove the ‘illusion of inclusion’ in the American Theater, by building a sustainable, ethical roadmap that will increase employment opportunities for Black theater professionals. Our vision is to reshape the working ecosystem for those who have been marginalized by systemically racist and biased ideology.
- Black Theatre Commons
Black Theatre Commons - a network of theatre practitioners who self-identify as members of the Black/Africa Diaspora. We activate our collective resources to amplify, nurture and support the work of Black theaters and practitioners through advocacy, convening, networking, and knowledge sharing.
- Black Theatre United
Black Theatre United - We stand together to help protect Black people, Black talent and Black lives of all shapes and orientations in theatre and communities across the country. Our voices are united to empower our community through activism in the pursuit of justice and equality for the betterment of all humanity.
- Blindspot Collective
Blindspot Collective - to produce radically inclusive programming at the intersection of advocacy, education, and entertainment that cultivates and celebrates new work, emerging artists, diverse audiences, and fresh ideas.
- Broadway Advocacy Coalition
Broadway Advocacy Coalition - builds the capacity of individuals, organizations, and communities to dismantle the systems that perpetuate racism through the power of storytelling and the leadership of people directly affected.
- Broadway and Beyond
Broadway and Beyond - Access for Stage Managers of Color- provides opportunities to aspiring and current stage managers of color to learn from industry insiders, meet industry leaders, and provide insights to help stage managers of color start, maintain, and advance a career in the arts and theatre through free networking and educational events.
- Broadway for Racial Justice
Broadway for Racial Justice – Fighting for racial justice and equity by providing immediate resources, assistance, and amplification for BIPOC in the Broadway and Theatrical community at large. In doing so, we help to create safe spaces throughout the theater community for creativity and artistry to thrive.
Cost is $50 for Educators.
- Creating in Color
Creating in Color - a meeting place for BIPOC who work in music in the theatre. That includes all musical position: musical directors, arrangers, pit and session musicians, audio engineers, composers, lyricists, copyists, rehearsal pianists, programmers, etc.
- Institute for Composer Diversity
The Institute for Composer Diversity - works to encourage the discovery, study, and performance of music written by composers from underrepresented groups. We do this to positively impact three important groups: the audiences and students who will engage with the music, the conductors, performers, and educators who serve to bring that music to those audiences and students, and the composers themselves.

Maestra- provides support, visibility and community for the women/nonbinary creators who make the music in the musical theater industry
- Muse
MUSE- committed to creating diversity within the music departments of the theater industry by providing access, internships, mentorships and support to historically marginalized people of color.
- Music by Black Composers
Music by Black Composers - Inspiring Black students to begin and continue instrumental training. Making the music of Black composers available to everyone. Helping to change the face of classical music through greater diversity.

PAS Diversity Composer Meta Database - A list of many databases and lists of diverse composers of many genres of music.

Taxi Rank – A blog with a list of LGBTQA Composers in alphabetical order.
- The Conciliation Project
The Conciliation Project – a social justice organization dedicated to the process of conciliation. To promote, through active and challenging dramatic work, open and honest dialogue about racism and oppression in America in order to repair its damaging legacy. We produce original plays that inspire, inform, and include everyone in the conversation around race.
- The New Music USA Online Library
The New Music USA Online Library - Is a vast and comprehensive digital database that contains over 57,000 works by more than 6,000 composers and includes over 14,000 media samples (recordings and scores).
- The Sappho Project
The Sappho Project - Our mission is to provide a platform for women, trans, and gender non-conforming musical theatre book writers, composers, and lyricists to share their work, so that our industry more accurately reflects all perspectives, stories, and experiences. To be a cis women-led organization in the musical theater industry is a radical act to begin with, but that is just the start. It is of the utmost importance to The Sappho Project to expand in a way that highlights the stories of trans and gender non-conforming artists as well as Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.
- Theatre Producers of Color
Theatre Producers of Color - a multifaceted collective of theatre makers joined together in support of the next generation of BIPOC producers by providing access to education, training and mentorship.
- Viva Broadway
Viva Broadway - Is a national Broadway League audience development partnership with the Hispanic community that helps bridge the world of Broadway with Latinx audiences around the country. This long-term initiative aims to celebrate Latinx talent and increase awareness of and engagement with Broadway. Viva Broadway embraces media and education initiatives, concerts, events and promotions, career development programs, and more.
- Young Women’s Composers Camp
The Young Women Composers Camp - Aims to amplify the voices of young female and nonbinary composers, to allow them access to a high level of musical training, and to work towards a more equitable and diverse composition field.
